Switch to First Colony...
We know that switching your checking account from one bank to another can be a time-consuming process. But, with First Colony Bank’s Switch Kit, we can help you make the transition to a new First Colony checking account quick and easy. Just follow the simple step by step process outlined below:
1. Open a New Account
First Colony offers a number of checking account options designed to meet your needs. You can open an account by visiting a First Colony location or by calling (407) 740-0401. To speed up the process, take a few minutes to complete our New Account Information Form and bring it to a First Colony Banking location or fax it in advance to (407) 740-8292, Attn: New Accounts.
Discontinue the use of your old checking account – Ensure sufficient funds are left in your account and allow enough time for any outstanding checks, ATM/debit transactions, final direct deposits and automatic withdrawals/payments to clear. Make certain to destroy any unused checks, deposit slips and ATM/debit cards.
2. Direct Deposits
Switch your Direct Deposits to your First Colony account – Use the Direct Deposit Authorization Form to provide written notice to any direct deposit vendors such as your employer for payroll and other banks for CD interest payments. Be sure to attach a deposit slip or voided check from your new account. You will need to print and complete one form for each company with which you have a direct deposit arrangement.
For Social Security direct deposits, change may be made by calling the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 or visiting their website at www.ssa.gov.
3. Automatic Withdrawals/Payments
Switch your Automatic Withdrawals/Payments to your First Colony account – Notify each company that you are paying through automatic withdrawal/payment by completing an Automatic Withdrawal/Payment Change Form. Common examples of such payments are for loans, mortgages, utilities, insurance and more. This form will provide them written authorization and your new First Colony account information. You will need to print and complete one form for each company with which you have an automatic withdrawal/payment arrangement.
4. Close Your Old Account
Complete and send an Account Closing Notification Form which will request your old bank to send a check for the remaining balance of your account(s) directly to First Colony Bank for deposit into your new account(s).
